The Golden Isles Rotary recently hosted a presentation by Jennifer Tacbas, the founder of an organization of Great Books for Kids, which she created with her daughter. 
The goal is to give a book every school month through the fifth grade to every fourth and fifth grader in Camden and Glynn Counties.

The International Seafarers Center will observe Maritime Memorial Day at noon May 22 at the St. Simons Island pier with the laying of a wreath and the tolling of a ship’s bell in memory of the Merchant Mariners who lost their lives in service.

The Glynn County Commission will consider accepting a $1.35 million grant to help pay for improvements to the intersection at Sea Island and Frederica roads at Thursday’s meeting.
